تتناول هذه الدراسة صورة الطبيب الأركياتروسArchiatros في كتابات جريجوري التوري Gregory of Tours. وهو موضوع غاية في الأهمية لأنّه يُسلّط الضوء على لقب الأركياتروس كوظيفة من ناحية، وعلى الممارسات الطبية والعلاجات حسب منظور جريجوري من ناحية ثانية. ويُسلّط الضوء على قضية التشافي الديني من ناحية ثالثة. ولكي تُستوفى هذه الدراسة لم يقف الباحث عند كتابات جريجوري وحسب، بل راجع المصادر والآراء الأخرى المعاصرة له، فضلًا عن التي سبقته، وقارن بينها بحثًا عن إجابة سؤالين: ما الفارق بين الأركياتروس وبقية الأطباء؟ وما جدوى دراسة الطب في القرن السادس نظير التشافي الديني؟
This study deals with the image of the physician Archiatros in the writings of the Gallic historian Gregory of Tours. This is a very important topic because it sheds light on the title of Archiatros as a function on the one hand, and on medical practices and treatments according to Gregory’s perspective on the other hand. To produce this study in the best possible way, the researcher did not stop at Gregory’s writings alone, but rather reviewed other contemporary sources and opinions, as well as those that preceded him, and compared them in search of answers to two questions: What is the difference between Archiatros and other physicians? What is the benefit of studying medicine in the sixth century in comparison to religious healing?
